Yuyang Li
Saucer Magnolia – Magnolia x soulangeana
The Saucer Magnolia to me feels like a very inviting and evocative tree. The Magnolia flower has a lot of richness and fullness in its texture. This short piece is an improvisation based on the impressions that the tree gave me. Musically, it is quite saturated and emotional but also very straightforward. The whole of Kensington Gardens and the serenity of taking a casual walk in it also had an impact on the piece.
