On the 8th June 2024, Treephonia presented a performance at Kindred Studios as part of their Open Studios – ‘A Single Tree Doesn’t Make a Forest’.
The performance connected the exterior and interior spaces of the studios and was centred around three collective activities: listening, walking, playing.
As audiences followed the music and the art, they were encouraged to draw their walking paths and describe things they heard or saw, which they notated on score cards.
Then together, we created a 2-sided graphic score hung up between two birch trees on ‘staff’ string, which formed the catalyst for the final musical response and improvisation.
